The Science and Research Policy research group, similar to the rest of the research groups operating in the institute, attempts to fulfill the institute’s strategic plans. According to the strategic plan, the most important mission of the country’s science policy research institute is to discuss, formulate, and propose policy studies as the consultant of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to improve the performance of the country’s national innovation system, and to support this ministry in policy-making and decision-making processes. This group deals with the issues of the national innovation system by focusing on science and academic research and offers the results of its research to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and other related institutions in the country in the form of tangible and operational policy packages.
The Science and Research Policy Group was first established under the name of Science Policy in 2006 to conduct policy research, transform the institute’s research activities into tangible and operational policy packages, and provide advice to policy-making institutions on issues related to the development of the country’s scientific system.
In 2019, following the change in the structure and map of the institute’s groups, this research group was renamed the “Science and Research Policy”.
