Every year, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran marks the “Research Week” by organizing exhibitions on the latest top research and scientific works conducted at universities and research institutes and selects the best research institute at the end of the week. The works of the exhibition cover a wide range of disciplines. National Research Institute for Science Policy (NRISP) was chosen the best research institute in the country in the “Research Week” in 2008.

NRISP conducted a research project entitled "The most appropriate technologies for Iran in 2023/4: A pilot foresight" (PAMFA) in 2008. For the first time in Iran, this project was carried out with the cooperation of about 1000 experts and with the goal of determining the futures of technologies and their advantages and disadvantages in Iran. The most important outcomes of the project were as follows:

1. To expand the choice of opportunities in order to prioritize and assess the results and prospects;
2. To identify the landscape of the current technologies and research policies;
3. To determine needs, requests and new facilities and also new ideas;
4. To select some economical, technological and social grounds in order to review and focus on them;
5. To set up technological and scientific networks with a view to inter- organizational cooperation;
6. To attract different actors’ attention to long- term future;
7. To establish links and coordination between different actors.

Rahyaft was selected as the best scientific journal at the 7th Research and Technology Festival of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2007.

Rahyaft as a Science Policy Quarterly is published by National Research Institute for Science Policy (NRISP). This quarterly journal aims at upgrading and augmenting coordination in research, both in terms of methodology throughout the country by considering different audiences in different areas of science, policy-making and administrative functions. Moreover, it is the objective of this journal to raise problems and assist scientific and research oriented policy-making both in social and the natural sciences. Rahyaft’s full papers are published in Farsi along with abstracts in English.

Regarding futures studies is a new field in Iran and there is a strong need to promote it in the society, a word selection group for futures studies with the cooperation of the futures studies research department of NRISP was set up at the Persian Language and Literature Academy in 2011 to develop its concepts.

National Research Institute for Science Policy (NRISP) as the Focal Point of STIO in Iran launched its activities under an approval made at the first meeting of Science, Technology and Innovation Organization (STIO) of COMSTECH in Islamabad- Pakistan in February 24, 2010 and the agreement of the then Deputy Research of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran in order to play its role as a medium and prepare the grounds for joint cooperation and encourage activities in the fields of science and technology between Iranian research institutes and research institutes of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.
